Community Connect: Toups’ Meatery
Toups’ Meatery gives back
If you’re a native New Orleanian or in the food industry, then Toups’ is likely a familiar household name. Famed restaurant, Toups’ Meatery, owned by Chef Isaac Toups and his wife Amanda, has been a Mid-City neighborhood haunt for 8 years this Spring. Their journey since opening in 2012 has proven to be a successful one. They’ve published a cookbook (Chasing the Gator: Isaac Toups and the New Cajun Cooking), were named James Beard Foundation semi-finalists in 2014, 2015 and currently ‘Best Chef: South’, named Eater’s ‘Chef of the Year’ in 2014 and was a contestant in season 13 of Top Chef! Their list of accolades goes on and on, but a huge win for the Toups’ has shown the community just how much they care…
The duo is receiving an outpour of local praise and national recognition for providing a free daily “family meal” to the community during this pandemic over the past few months. Love Your City recently captured a short segment of Chef Isaac and those efforts Toups’ Meatery is offering the people of New Orleans. A great highlight of the restaurant and some insight into what we can expect from Chef Isaac and Amanda as we transition through the phases of re-opening.
Since New Orleans is a city built on community, culture, good eats and good mojo, you’d likely want to surround yourself by people that make it so special, become a part of it and contribute to preserving it. There’s a saying here in NOLA by one of our beloved Saints, Drew Brees, “If you love New Orleans, she’ll love you back.” Toups’ is definitely one of the reasons why we love New Orleans and they’re returning that love tenfold.
Aching to get in with this crowd?
Amanda and Isaac currently have two leases listed with Witry Collective above the restaurant at 4102 Dumaine Street, and they’re up for grabs.
Unit A is one bedroom, one bathroom and Unit B is two bedrooms, one bathroom. Both units have outdoor balcony’s or space to engage with the buzz outside your home, watch the bright red street car pass by, hop downstairs for a bite to eat or take a quick bike ride to City Park, Jazz Festival and so much more.
Don’t miss your chance to live in such a great space with incredible energy. Contact Katie Witry at [email protected] to schedule a viewing and we highly recommend you visit Toups’ Meatery to support their re-opening!
