Cooking with The Collective: Bywater
One of the most unique and sprawling properties Iβve experienced so far is 4000-08 Royal Street, located in the hip Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans. This enormous, double, corner lot, offers a laundry list of opportunity and perks. Weβve held two of our monthly Salon Series in the space and while our first Salon we were able to invite you into the home for a yoga class, for our May Salon weβre bringing the home to you!
We utilized one of the multiple kitchens in the property to film a cooking demo hosted by local guest chef Justin Koslowsky in our Salon Series: cooking with the Collective. Something to look forward to for future get togethers. In the meantime, checkout the demo belowΒ if youβre in the mood to make some oven roasted chicken, fluffy mashed potatoes and glazed carrots, then join us in spirit by tagging us on Instagram and Facebook!
It was such a treat to use this space and feel it come alive once the video started rolling and oven turned on. If you havenβt had the pleasure of seeing this home first-hand though, Iβll share a bit about it here…
When you arrive to 4000-08 Royal Street, youβre greetedΒ by a gorgeous, traditional New Orleans inspired facade of the home, a long gated driveway with drive-thru entry/exit andΒ a lush courtyard filled with palm trees, fruit trees, St. Joeβs brick pathways and a large metal T-Rex standing guard.Β The home has some great modern elements to note like SONOS surround sound throughout, 16 security cameras and SMART technology.
Entering the front door off Royal Street, you’ll be in unit 4006. There’s captivating Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors and the open windows covering the right corner walls.Β Across from the entry is a wall of cabinetry, a pass through bar from the kitchen and a built-in beverage cooler. Crossing to the other side of the room, you pass two sets of French Doors and the kitchen where we held our Salon cooking demo.
Take the stairs up to two bedrooms and a full bathroom. The right is a beautiful bedroom with three sets of French Doors leading to a balcony hovering over the porch on Royal Street and a sky high ceiling and ceiling fan.
Featured here, the second bedroom has space for seatingΒ or a desk, a short set of stairs to a small platform, then continues with stairs to a bridge and a loft for your bed.Β Such a fun room with access to the second floor gallery balcony!
Heading back downstairs and over to the rear unit. As you follow along the driveway enter through the last set of French Doors and youβre in unit 4008.
You’ll enter into the living room with chic concrete floors, three French Doors that open to the courtyard and a small wet bar, with the bathroom tucked in the left corner. Your dining room grabs an incredible amount of natural light and features a larger wet bar with a beverage cooler and cabinetry.
From the living room you can head left upstairs to the master bedroom with a sitting roomΒ or office attached. Your master bedroom comes complete with a small kitchenette featuring a two top burner and refrigerator, a sleek modern bathroom with a rain shower, hydro spa and built in closet space along the wall of the bedroom.
Back down to the living room and head right upstairs to the kitchen.Β A beautiful setting to look out to the river with top of the line appliances, track lighting and ample space for an island to expand your counter tops.
The next flight of stairs leads to your third floor avant garde bathroom, where you can open your French Doors, let the breeze in and watch the boats go by while you get ready forΒ yourΒ day.
AΒ final flight of stairs up to the fourth floor is your crowβs nest bedroom, featuring aΒ cozy balcony with views of the Crescent City Bridge,Β MississippiΒ River and where youβll truly feel like the Queen of your castle.
All this inside your own private oasis, but when youβre ready to venture outside these walls youβre met with countless options to explore and are just steps from multiple hotspots. A few walkable favorites include Bacchanal Fine Wine & Spirits, Vaughanβs Lounge, Parleaux Beer Lab, Bywater Bakery and Elizabethβs Restaurantβ¦so you have your coffee, breakfast, happy hours and nightlife covered!
Two blocks from Crescent Park Dog Run and Crescent Park to stroll along the Mississippi River, take the walking trails or bring some friends along for a picnic. Youβll share the neighborhood with incredible businesses like Music Box Village, Studio Be and Haroldβs Plants. A few blocks over and youβre at St. Roch Market, New Orleans Food Co-op, NOCCA and inching into Frenchmen Street or the French Quarter.
